Wallpapering our Half Bathroom

Hi everyone!

I’ve had a long blog break and am back with lots of great projects to share! With the addition of our sweet Bennett in November, maternity leave, the business of the end of the school year and adjusting our evening routines to sneak in workouts had left little time to blog. I’ve missed it! And have lots of great new things to share. The first being my favorite new space in the house, our half-bath. This room was a blank slate. I tried a few decor things last year but never loved how they turned out. I had been eyeing wallpaper for awhile and debated different looks and types {removable vs. the real deal} and ended up stumbling across this beautiful paper on sale at Hygge and West. I’ve seen this print in tons of beautiful colors across different shelter magazines, Pinterest, and blogs and have always loved it. When we spotted it on sale and in this gorgeous blue/gray and pearly cream color, I was very excited to use it in our house. We snagged up two rolls and decided to makeover our small guest bathroom. This is the room all visitors use when they come over and I love how pretty it turned out.

We took the paper to Home Depot and found a paint that matched the print of the wallpaper. We added a simple board and batten to the lower half of the room and used our paint match {Galactic Tint by Behr} to cover the walls.

The wallpaper was much easier to install than I anticipated. We cut it to size with a few inches overage, rolled glue on it and used a flat edge to spread it smooth. We worked our way around the bathroom, cutting around the light fixture and door. It only took a few hours to do and came out great!

The mirror is from Joss and Main and the vanity we installed when we built the house, I believe from Home Depot.

It’s hard to tell from the pictures but the wallpaper has a shimmer to it. It’s a soft and pretty space for our guests now that we are happy to share.

What do you think about wallpaper? Would you use it in your house?

  1. Hey Jess,
Looks fabulous! Love the peaceful color. I was going to e-mail you because I have seen wallpaper popping up all over and thought it was back in style. My mom wallpapered our entire house in the early 90s. What goes around comes around I guess!
Love you and so happy for you and your growing fam.
