With lots of holiday parties coming up and plenty of Sunday football to watch, I wanted to share a simple go-to dip for any party you may be heading to this season. Comfort food seems to be a theme this time of year and this recipe definitely fits the bill. Mike has been making this dip for years and it's always a hit.
- Texas Pete Hot Sauce- 12 oz
- Shredded cheddar cheese- 4 cups
- Cream Cheese- 3 8 0z blocks
- Shredded Chicken- 4 breasts
I always buy the reduced fat cream cheese and cheddar cheese to save a few calories:) This was the first time we used the Texas Pete brand of hot sauce and it was great. Mike is a bit of a hot sauce connoisseur and he definitely approves. He puts hot sauce on everything-eggs, chicken nuggets, casseroles, you name it and this chicken dip is one of his favorites because of the heat. We bought ours at Wal-Mart but it is sold all over.
Here's how to make it::
Step 1: In a large bowl, add cream cheese and the whole bottle of hot sauce. It's easier to mix if the cream cheese is softened but it doesn't have to be. Ours was straight out of the fridge and it blended up fine.
Step 3: Add shredded cheese to the hot sauce and cream cheese.
Step 4: Meanwhile, cook the chicken breasts in a skillet over medium heat until cooked through. We just cut them into strips or chunks and then shred them in the blender.
