Christmas Mantle: DIY Merry Christmas sign

You saw a sneak peak of our partially decorated mantle last week when I shared our stocking holders. Part of the decor included a simple “Merry Christmas” banner made with my new favorite machine, my Silhouette Portrait. I have a very special Black Friday deal coming at the end of this week so I’m going to be sharing some of the projects I’ve made with it so far. Most of these projects I made when it arrived a few weeks ago but I’m very behind on tutorials so I’m going to try and make up for some of that lost time this week! I’ve got recipes, crafts, and other tutorials ready to go starting with this simple banner.

I printed them out on adhesive-backed kraft paper and peeled out the letters and shapes. Then I got some Christmas scrapbook paper and cut them into rectangles just smaller than my banners and stuck them to the back.

The paper shows through and gives the letters and shapes their pattern and color.

How do you decorate your mantle for Christmas?

  1. Love your mantle. Your decorating style is gorgeous. I have been following your blog for sometime and have enjoyed following your home being built. I am looking forward to your tutorials that use the Silhouette. I was a lucky winner of one of these fantastic machines but have only used it once as it really confuses me. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!

    • Aw, thanks, Renea! I LOVE my Silhouette so I’ll have lots to share! Hopefully you’ll find some simple ideas to use for yours.
