Great Summer Read: Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews

Summer time for me means relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather. As a teacher {Asst. Principal now}, I have always dug into good books during my time off. My favorite summer routine {before miss Molly was born}, was to go for a morning run, then grab my book and head to the pool for a few hours. I definitely have less time to do things that like these days, but it was a treat recently when I was able to carve out some time to read the new Mary Kay Andrews book, Save the Date.

Bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews writes novels that are funny, smart, and heartfelt. In SAVE THE DATE, one Savannah florist must decide if love really does exist outside of fairy tales — it’s so good you will want to RSVP!

It is the perfect summer read: heartbreak, romance, a little mystery, and the perfect ending. Save the Date bookIt takes place in Savannah, GA and is about a divorcee who is struggling to stay afloat while running her own flower business. She bought a golden doodle when she got divorced so I liked her from the beginning-not because of the divorce, but because of the dog :) She gets involved in some high society weddings and meets some very interesting people, including a very nice looking southern boy, of course :) As a hot shot florist moves into town and tries to take her down, she goes through a slew of bad luck including losing her assistant/BFF to a new boyfriend, killing $12,000 of flowers when her cooler goes out, her A/C quits in the middle of summer, someone buys out her shop/apartment right from under her, and the guy she thought she was falling for seems to break her trust. After all the drama, this book has one of the perfect endings where so many loose ends and questions are answered and I love a good warm and fuzzy feeling when I close the last page of the book.
