DIY Menu Board

Remember the dog food storage box we made for Pudge/Molly last week? We had a little leftover chalkboard from that project, so I started brainstorming what to do with it. I’ve blogged about our budgeting quite a bit and meal planning is a huge part of saving money at the grocery. We have stuck to our budget over the last 4 years and have kept up with our money tracking and menu planning as a part of that. The chalkboard was the perfect size and shape to make a simple menu board with so I grabbed some craft items I had on hand {all from the Target Dollar Spot} and got to crafting.

menu boardHere is what I used to make this:

menu board suppliesIt’s pretty simple. I started by gathering my letters and gluing them centered on the top.

gluing menu lettersThen I measured the length of my board and and divided it by 7 days to see how large my daily spaces would be {mine were 3″}. I used some silver glittery craft tape to divide the days.

menu tape linesI had some cute alphabet stickers as well and used those for the days of the week.

menu sticker lettersI didn’t have ribbon long enough to cover one whole side so I cut up two different ribbons and alternated them. Then I hot glued a ribbon to the back to hang it with as well.
