Building Our Dream Home: Kitchen Cabinets

Our school is on a balanced calendar which means we get two weeks of fall break coming up starting on Saturday-yippee!!! I’ll be hanging around with Miss Molly for most of the two weeks, soaking up some mommy-daughter time, but we do plan on taking a short trip over to Cincinnati for a couple of days. We want to take Molly to either the aquarium or zoo {depending on the weather} because she is fascinated with anything that moves lately. She can’t get enough of her big brother Pudge-watches everything he does and is constantly grabbing at him and pulling his hair {which he lovingly puts up with:)}. We also are planning on stopping by Ikea to plan our kitchen. We have decided to buy our cabinetry from there because it is a great price and, from what we’ve read, holds up well. We aren’t planning on purchasing anything until their next 20% off sale, but we’ve read that it becomes crazy town there during the sale and it’s smarter to shop ahead of time and then buy when the sale is going on. We are going white again and really like this door style {but in white}:

ikea grayThere are some beautiful kitchens out there done by bloggers with Ikea cabinetry that turned out great. Rhoda from Southern Hospitality created a gorgeous white kitchen when she renovated her home.

Another great Ikea kitchen is by one of my favorite bloggers, Dana of House*Tweaking. I love the contrasting counters and cabinets and the overall transformation they have done on their home. Dana has such amazing vision.

ikea-kitchen-after-4How do you feel about Ikea kitchens? Have any of you bought and installed Ikea kitchens?

  1. Hey there, I just found your blog while researching wax sealer for concrete counters.

We just remodeled our kitchen with Adel white cabinets from Ikea and we absolutely LOVE them!! Truth be told, we installed them last summer and it’s been over a year that we’ve had ‘temporary’ counter tops. We finally contracted someone to do our concrete counters and they should be installed next week – WOOT! My husband was going to build them himself, but after a year of waiting for the project to get done, we opted to fork out the big bucks and to eliminate one project from our list. ;) Seeing how your counters turned out in a prior post, I’m thinking that maybe my husband maybe should have done it himself!! :-|

    • I’m sure the pros will give you some awesome counters:) I’m glad to hear that about the cabinets-we are heading to Ikea this week to start shopping!
