Favorite Projects of 2012

Hi everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the last day of 2012!  I can’t believe another year has gone by.  This has been such a life-changing and fulfilling year in our household.  The biggest story of our year was our pregnancy announcement and the long road it took us to get there.  We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little girl in 2013 and can’t wait to see what God has in store for us next year!  The blog has been a huge blessing this year also.  We’ve gotten a lot accomplished at our house over the past year so I thought today I would share my favorite 9 projects from the year {in chronological order}.

1. We started the year off with a bang when we made over and revealed our master closet.  I’m very happy to report that it is still super organized and clean almost a year later!  Just goes to show you that the old saying “a place for everything and everything it its place” can actually work!

2. In February Mike took on a big project when he built our new Pottery Barn inspired round wood table.  We absolutely love this table and plan on it being a family heirloom one day:)

3. In April we took on another large project in our master bedroom.  I am so proud and happy with how this project turned out.  We DIY’d some built-in bookcases and a window seat in between.  Tons of extra storage and a pretty area to look at:) Sometimes I forget what the room looked like before!

4. To kick off my summer break we took on our laundry room.  This was another area that was completely disorganized and lacked function.  We painted, added upper and lower cabinets, and some shelving.  6 months later {just like our closet} it’s still organized and pretty!

5. Our living room is the next room in line for a makeover project, but we got the ball rolling a little last summer when we updated some artwork.  Mike built an oversized frame {4′ x 8’!} and I created some wood pieces to display some of our photography from some of our favorite vacation spots.

6.  We started our master bath remodel in July and finished in August.  This project was done on a budget, but adds a major wow factor to our bathroom.  We cut and installed our own granite, stained the vanity and mirror frame, and bought new sinks and faucets.  I love getting ready here everyday!

7.  Staying on the bathroom theme, we moved into our half bath for some sprucing up.  This is a tiny room that gets used often so we wanted something fun in here.  I stenciled the walls, painted the vanity, added wainscoting, and Mike cut some more granite to fit with a new sink and faucet on top.  We also DIY’d some granite shelves, and, of course accessorized!

8.   A fun weekend project was our pantry makeover.  Adding some patterned contact paper to the walls and installing a new glass-paned door adding a lot of pizzaz to our kitchen.

9.  Also, in our kitchen, we added a bar!  New tall cabinets, granite counter and shelf, and a subway tile backsplash added a lot of fancy to our kitchen:)

We have a lot of projects that are partially finished right now and a to-do list to tackle before baby girl arrives!  I’ll be sharing all of that very soon!

Have a wonderful and safe New Year’s Eve tonight!
