Simple Christmas Decor: Wooden JOY Letters

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  We got a couple of big projects checked off of the nursery to-do list which makes me happy:)  We painted the room and the dresser and added some adorable knobs.  If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebok you may have seen some sneak peaks!  We also finished up the last couple little areas with Christmas decor around the house, including the new bar area in our kitchen.  I actually realized when I was taking pictures that I never shared with you this makeover.  I’ll do that soon:)  Here is how it looks dressed up for Christmas:

We used an old frame we had in our half bath before the makeover and just sat that on the bar shelf.  Then I strung my Merry Christmas letters from our dining room last year and put that in the frame.  The only other addition we added was simple wooden JOY letters.  I asked Mike to cut some letters from leftover wood from our oversized living room frame project to spell out JOY.  Then I had to Christmasify them.  These were the supplies I used:

  • JOY letters
  • silver glitter
  • Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray paint
  • paint brush
  • paper plate
  • drop cloth

Lay the letters out and paint them with whatever color you choose.  I had a sample quart of Comfort Gray {that I had considered using in the nursery} so I just used that.  You will be able to see a little of the paint under the glitter so make sure you choose a color you like!

While the paint is still yet, sprinkle the letter with glitter over a paper plate to catch the excess.

And that’s it.  Really simple and free because we had everything on hand.  The best kind of project:)  I love the sparkle it adds to the bar.

Do you add some Christmas throughout your house or mainly keep it in your living room?
