Stenciled Bathroom and a Giveaway for you!
| September 10, 2012 | Posted by Jessie under Artsy Stuff, Bathrooms, Paint |
Hello everyone! Well, the half-bath is about 90% done. Yay! I finally completed the stencil, we installed the bead board and trim, and framed out our mirror. It is looking great and I’ll have more pictures and tutorials for you coming soon, but today we’re focusing on the stencil:) I was approached by Cutting Edge Stencils to choose a stencil to use for this project and I am thrilled with the results. We decided this room would be a fun place to go a little more bold with our color and patterns and it has such a personality now. I started by painting all the walls white and then used my Harlequin Allover Stencil for the pattern in a blue color. This was my first time using a stencil and love how convenient they make everything for you. The stencil came with a foam roller, a stencil level, and three different sizes of the same stencil. I used every size of the stencil for this project because of all the mix of small and large walls in this room. I will warn you, a bathroom is not the best place to stencil:) It is awkward, small, and makes it difficult but it is doable with plenty of time and patience:) The large stencil covered a lot of space in a short amount of time so that was my favorite one to use.
My favorite part was the stencil level that came with the stencil. You slide it on top of your stencil so you can make sure you are stenciling in a straight line. Genius. I used Frog Tape to adhere my stencil to the wall.
The small stencil would finish off the edges where the large stencil didn’t fit.
There is also one that is about three diamonds long to use around the top or bottom of your area, which I used to stencil near the ceiling. I still have a few touch-ups to do, but absolutely love how it turned out. I have some”after” pictures below, but keep in mind this room isn’t finished. Trim needs to be painted, shelves built and installed, and pretty accessories added.
Isn’t it fun? I am so excited about this little space:)
