Summer Recap
| August 10, 2012 | Posted by Jessie under Summer |
Today is the first official day of school! I’m really excited to get in there and get this year rolling:) I was able to meet my students on Wednesday and they seem like a great bunch. I thought it would be fun, in honor of the end of summer and beginning of school, to recap what I got accomplished during my time off.
I started off the summer with a simple craft for our front door: my hanging summery monogram.
Then I shared my summer goal: Mission Organization. I actually marked off quite a bit of the list.
junk drawer #1- junk drawer #2
- junk drawer #3 {anyone else have multiple junk drawers or is that just us?}

Then came our first big project of the summer: our laundry room redo! I started off small, with a cabinet door turned art work.
Then I just threw the whole reveal at ya! I backtracked and showed our tutorials later:) Here is the fun before and after.
One of the first tutorials ended up being a pretty popular one: our DIY pull-down drying rack. I have hung a ton of clothes on it and it’s super sturdy:)
I then shared how I made the glass vases that I made to decorate the shelves.
I also showed my I painted cabinets, spray painted the countertop, and built the shelves.
This super yummy recipe for chicken enchiladas is a must-try!
I know this wasn’t something I necessarily accomplished, but Mike and I had an awesome vacation:) I started at Haven, then Mike met me and we went to Hilton Head for a little beach time, then a few days in Gatlinburg with the fam to celebrate my grandparents 60th anniversary. Lots of fun.
Then I shared our next big makeover: our master bath! The big reveal will be Monday so make sure to check back to see it all finished and pretty! We feel like we are living in a fancy hotel these days:)
The first project in this makeover was to stain our not so attractive orangy-oak vanity. Much improved, in my humble opinion:)
Nothing like hopping from room to room. I recovered our kitchen bench seat cushions in a sturdy striped fabric.
In our living room, we built a massive 4′x8′ frame to display some of our favorite pictures from our vacations together.
Back to the bathroom makeover, I stained our mirror frame to match the newly stained vanity.
The final bathroom project I shared {so far!} was the spray painted bathroom light. It has a great antiqued silver finish that goes perfectly with our new hardware.
And, lastly, I shared what an amazing job the Fish Foam people did cleaning our windows. That counts as an accomplishment, right? If you haven’t checked out their products, you should go now! Pudge was amazed with how clean they were:)
Whew that was a long list. It feels good to look back and see that I kept myself pretty busy with my time off. My favorite project was our master bath. Can’t wait to share! Any favorite projects you did this summer?
Wish me luck with my first day!
