Master Bathroom Update: Stained Mirror Frame

I’m back with a master bath update!  I know it’s been a couple weeks since I’ve talked about it, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes.  We’ve been working hard to get the granite cut to size and make the sink holes and faucet holes {long saga coming soon} so we can get the new countertop in place.  In the meantime, I was able to stain the mirror frame we made last year so it matches our newly stained vanity.  This is what the bathroom looked like when we first moved in:

We made an attempt to spruce the vanity area up last year when we built a mirror frame using reclaimed barn wood:

The frame definitely added some character but it wasn’t until we scored the free granite last month that we jumped on the full makeover.  Rather than getting rid of the frame we had built, we decided to just bring it up to par with the rest of our current makeover by staining it.  I used the same Minwax Gel Stain in Hickory to match the frame to the vanity.  Here it is, dark and gorgeous:

Ignore the torn out backsplash pieces on the sides of the countertop.  We’re in the process of taking it out to put in the granite.  Yay!

So, what do you think about the updated frame?  Can’t wait to get this room done!  Here is the rest of our to-do list:

  • spray paint lighting
  • install granite
  • install sinks and faucets

We’re getting close:)

  1. love it! I’m really digging the dark color of your mirror/vanity with the blue walls. Can’t wait to see the countertops!

  2. Hi! I saw your tutorial on how you created the frame for your bathroom mirror. Very interesting how you secured it to the wall! I’m wondering, since you only secured it at the top, how does the frame stay flush? Does the bottom part jut out?

  3. You have wonderful views which are evident from your writings. Keep posting such kind of blogs as they are really informative, wish you good luck for your future blogs and hope they receive as much appraisal as you have got now.

  1. […] Hi everyone!  Are you coming down from the Olympic high yet?  So much fun competition this weekend!  Love it.  I was watching a marathon of the games yesterday while working on a few different projects and I have one to share with you today in our master bath.  The granite isn’t finished yet, but hopefully it will all be installed by the end of the week because we now have all of our parts.  Yahoo!  So remember, this picture I shared last week after staining our mirror frame: […]
