Fresh Front Door

Welcome back! I hope you all had a great weekend. We were able to spend some time with friends and with both of our families which was great, and we were even able to sneak in a little work in the laundry room. It’s really coming along! Walls are painted, cabinets are painted and installed. Now I just have to add some art work and decorate. Can’t wait to share hopefully soon! For today, I have a simple little way to update your front door for summer. I wanted something other than a typical wreath, so I decided to go for a light, fresh monogram letter.
This was a super simple project that only cost around $5. Here’s what you’ll need:
I used two different colors to create a soft, weathered look. I started by rolling on some aqua craft paint.
Yes, I used the bag I brought it in home in as my painting surface. Lazy, lazy. Then I went over top of the aqua layer with a thin layer of gray paint I had on hand.
My original plan was to sand it and rough it up to let the aqua show through, but because I put such a thin layer of gray, it ended up with that look on it’s own. Happy accidents. The finishing touch was to hot glue a pretty white flower. I have a few little decorative watering cans in my dining room with some fake flowers from the Dollar Tree so I just borrowed one from there. I stapled a bright aqua ribbon to the back of each side and hung it around my wreath hook. Get excited, because I created my first collage in PicMonkey to share my pretty monogram:) Just ignore our ugly brown door and way too weathered door mat. Those are on the to-pretty list.
I wanted it to be something I could reuse in our home when I’m ready for something new on the door so the color scheme will be perfect.
What do you think? Do you have any fun alternatives to the traditional wreath?
