House Tour: Dining Room

I’m trying to update our House Tour page and I thought the easiest way to do that would be to write up a post about each room with all the projects that went into it.  That way, you can find everything you need about the room in one nifty little spot.  Starting with the dining room…here is how it looks today.

Some of the major projects were the DIY Pottery Barn-Inspired round wood table {reveal and tutorial}. Love love love.

The stenciled parsons chairs that make up half of our seating…

And the parsons chair cover tutorial with gray linen that makes up the other half of our seating.

We also created this funky, nontraditonal barn style wainscoting.

One of my favorite elements of the room is the barn door wall art. Mike pulled this baby out of the dumpster rescued this beautiful door and we cleaned it up and added some glass “shelves” to fancy it up.

To go with our whimsical rustic theme, we created these oversized silverware art pieces by making a silhouette of our own silverware with a flashlight and pencil.

You can read some totally lame posts from 2010 about the burlap runner and distressed buffet that we scored of Craigslist {ignore the random frame and unstyled top-it’s much fancier these days} that have, oh, let’s see, 2 pictures each that are completely unedited and bad.  The posts may not be great, but the finished product is!

And probably the most asked question I get from readers is the color of the walls in this room.  It is Steel Gray by Valspar.  It’s  great blue-gray that looks great in any room {we also have it in our master bath}.

Be on the lookout for more house tour posts in the coming weeks!

  1. I love getting to see the details in someone else’s home! Steel Gray has just been added to the growing list of colors for us to look at for the new house.
Your curtains are great, too – is it coral on them?

Also, I chose your blog as one of my fifteen favorites to be tagged with the Versatile Blogger Award! Check out my blog to see the deets:
