95%

Mike likes to call me a “95% finisher.” Why is that? I don’t finish things. Like rarely ever. I finish the easy parts or quick parts or work until I’m tired and then I just quit. I’m actually kind of lazy. I’m the opposite of a perfectionist. I’m not anal about details and don’t have the patience to nitpick what I’ve done. Are you starting to wonder why you read this blog or follow my tutorials now? Well I’m just giving it to you honestly. I may have left out an unfilled nail hole or loose thread here or there and today’s the day to air my dirty laundry. I’m telling you all these flaws about myself so you can help me improve {and if you want to tell me you are the same way I would love your forever}. Mmmmk?
Ok, here’s the to-finish list. I’m giving myself a week to get it done. Realistic? Maybe not {since some of these projects have been sitting around for months} but I’m gonna try. And you’re gonna help me:)
WARNING: You are about to view the most unflattering blog pictures of all time. Yes, they are that bad. Continue at your own risk {and please don’t think too poorly of me…remember, I’m finishing this stuff soon:)}
1. Paint behind the kitchen cabinet hinges. Yep, never did that.
2. Sew the seam in the garage sale chair. Yes, I forgot to sew an entire seam in a chair. This is actually embarrassing-it looks like a rip but I just try to tuck it in and hide it. Shameful.
3. Sew the edges of the drop cloth curtains. I’ve been tucking these behind the center curtains. Can you believe I’m admitting all this? What am I thinking.
4. Take the blackout lining off the coral curtains and sew them to the Ikea curtains. We swapped them from the dining room to our master bedroom for a more seamless curtain wall. We like to sleep, preferably in the dark, and the Ikea curtains aren’t cutting it.
5. Fill in nail holes on kitchen cabinet trim. These aren’t technically my fault-they’ve been there since we bought the house and Mike’s been too lazy fix them. Just kidding:) But they do need patched.
6. Velcro the back of the sectional slipcover to the couch. Remember my slipcover savings tips? I still need to velcro a section on so it will stop slipping behind the pillows.
Ok, I’m counting on you people. Next Thursday I am going to give you the update on what I’ve accomplished and I’m giving you permission to yell at me and call me names if I don’t have my list done. Just don’t be too mean, k?

Jessie, you are totally normal! Don’t be too hard on yourself! I’m the same way. With that said I’m impressed that you are going to finish all of these. Who wants to be normal?
Thanks, Sara:) I’m glad to know I’m not alone!!!
Good luck, Jessie! Take it one thing at a time. I bet you can do it!
Thanks, Suki! Check with me in a week and we’ll see how it went:)
[...] of me:) If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read about why I’m a 95%er here. Here’s how I did over the last [...]
Oh Jessie you are so cute! I don’t finish things either, but I am trying to do better. I have had the material to make maggies jumpers for a year now and I still have not tackeled it!!!!Life just gets in the way! But I am resigned to really buckle down and make the experience joyful! Jeff tells me to make a list and then slowly tackle one thing at a time! In my devotions I also ask Jesus to help me order my day, this always helps! I definitely need Him! Have a great day,and pet little pudge for me!!!
I am completely the same way. I have this bad habit of getting distracted by other projects when I am between 50% and 95% done. Yep. I’ve got the attention span of a gnat.
I just finished a project that has been 95% done for 4-5weeks today, and have yet to finish painting the last cabinet door for our kitchen (it has been sitting around primed for like six months).
Don’t be hard on yourself
at least you get things done eventually!
