Wedding Favor Boxes

Over the weekend we travelled to Chicago for our friend’s wedding {you can read more about their gift here} which was gorgeous. My mom and I had gone up to Chicago last spring and were talking to Allison about wedding details when she mentioned she wanted to give chocolates as favors and we offered, along with another of mom’s friends, to make the boxes for her that would hold the chocolates. We used her wedding colors and the style of the wedding to come up with a beautiful little box:
- cardstock paper {we used the same paper that was used for her invitations, programs, etc.}
- white ribbon
- silver ribbon
- thank you note cards
- foil wrap squares
- scissors
- ruler
- Martha Stewart cutting kit
We started by making a few sample boxes using the measurement chart on the Martha Stewart box maker:
Once we came up with a size that was appropriate for the chocolate and table setting, we started making the boxes. We made the lids out of the silver paper and the box out of the midnight blue paper. We ordered the paper through the person who made her invitations, programs, menu cards, etc. so it would all match.
My mom and her friend, Cathy, had cut all the ribbon to size ahead of time so the next step to assemble them was hot glue each end to the inside of the lid.
We layered the silver over the white ribbon using the same method:
We also stuck the foil sheets inside the box to lay the chocolates on:
Finally, we hot glued the thank you note to the top of the box to finish them off:
They added so much to the table decor at the reception and I think the bride was very happy with the results. Here is a picture of the bridesmaid table:
More pics of the wedding and our trip to Chi town coming soon!
